Great Achievement in Marine Education in our community

Updated: Sep 29, 2022

Our Sea Turtle Camps took place from June to August with a series of short talks, over 330 students from 8 schools learned about Sea turtles, their biology, the different species and ways to protect them from harm, through games and fun manual activities. It's important to remember that these gentle creatures are endangered, thus they are protected within the Bay Island National Marine Park so it's crucial that all the community gets involved in their care for the future generations. We are very thankful to the teachers of all the education centers for your support with this awareness campaign, as well as New England Biolab Foundation for helping us fund these activities.

During the month of September approximately 44 people, from 4 businesses and tour operators across the island, took part in our Best Environmental Practices and Responsible Sea Food Guide Campaign in the Bay Island National Marine Park (BINMP). We want to thank everyone from The Roatan Chocolate Factory, Gumbalina Park, Eco Caribbean Culture Park and Fun and Sun Operating Tours; for showing great interest in learning about these important measures and wanting to learn and share with tourists how to be a responsible visitor. Taking care of our Natural Heritage is a collective responsibility. Become part of this campaign, download the information from our website or contact us to develop a workshop at your community or business.
